The Under 8s played against Hills Rugby Club on Sunday at Kingsdene and came away with a great win (the margin was a fair bit to not enough).
The rugby skills on display on Saturday morning were as sizzling as the mid-morning temperature, even coach Simon and referee Simon built up a sweat!!!!
The Wallabies would do well to look at some aspects of our game on
Saturday morning, especially the tackling – they might be able to learn some things ahead of the incoming Ireland tour. The Barbarians constantly cut down some brave attacks from Hills with both bootstrap and bone-jarring tackles. Leading the charge here were Lawson and Finlay, both tackled very much like Michael Hooper on Red Bull.
The other key skills of clearing out, passing, supporting the ball runner and running with the ball were all on display in the game. Will, Sam and Lachie must have sore backs after constantly clearing out the opposition tacklers and creating momentum for the Barbarians. Eddie and Charlie will have slept well on Saturday night after running all over the field to support their team mates at the break down. Israel Folau and other alleged try scoring machines must surely take some lessons from Ralph and Jamie who scored a bucket of ties.
Our next game is this coming Saturday at 8:30 am against Dural at Ryde Park. At our next game, we welcome back Chris and Christopher, on Saturday they were missing today because they were watching their older brother play for the mighty South Sydney Rabbitohs (Harold Mathews team) but they will be back next week
