Icône mondiale du cinéma, incarnation parfaite de l'acteur, Alain Delon nous a quittés. Son amour pour le Japon n'avait d'égal que la passion que lui portent les Japonais depuis des décennies, lui qui était devenu une présence familière mais toujours honorée dans l'Archipel.

French movie star Alain Delon, who died Sunday aged 88, said that in Japan he was like a deity. It wasn't an exaggeration, local fans said Monday.
"In Japan I am a kind of a god," Delon told Figaro Magazine in 1986 on one of his many visits to Japan, when women fainted and crowds chased his limousine.
"People get real pleasure from touching me, caressing my hand, kissing my fingers," he told the magazine, reporting on fans showering him with gifts from red roses to statuettes.
Delon's breakthrough role in Japan was "Purple Noon" (1960) as the handsome, homicidal anti-hero for the original screen version of Patricia Highsmith's thriller "The Talented Mr Ripley."
Delon played an "ambitious roughneck who loved money, women and was ready for anything," said Sahoko Hata, a film critic who worked in the Japanese movie industry at the time. "This thirst symbolized that of Japanese youth at the time."

日曜日に88歳で死去したフランスの映画俳優アラン・ドロンさんは、日本では自分は神のような存在だと語っていたが、それは大げさではないと、日本のファンたちは、月曜日、話した。
「日本では、私は神のようなものだ」と、何度も訪日していたドロンさんは1986年の訪日の際、フィガロ誌に語った。女性たちは気を失い、群衆は彼の乗るリムジンを追いかけた。
「みんなが私に触わったり、手をなでたり、指にキスして、心から悦びに浸っている」と彼は同誌に話し、同誌はファンたちが彼に赤いバラから彫像まで山のようなプレゼントを浴びせる様子を報じている。
ドロンさんの日本での出世作は『太陽がいっぱい』（1960）で、彼は美貌の殺人鬼で悪役だった。同作はパトリシア・ハイスミスのサスペンス小説『才能あるリプリー氏』を最初に映画化したものである。
ドロンさんが演じたのは、金と女を愛し、何でもやる「野心家のならず者」だったと映画評論家で当時日本の映画業界で働いていた秦早穂子さんは言う。「この男の渇望は当時の日本の若者のそれを象徴していました。」
