Renowned musician and composer Chris Babida mastered in "Design w Sound" studio. We finished the Olympic Torch Song for Miss World Pageant. Then we mastered another album for his musical in China.

We started to know each other by email regarding the excellent Weiss equipment. At the end he purchased a whole system, and we discussed about the possibility work together. We share the same direction to seek for the better recording quality for our local regions. We both believe this cannot be done via pure marketing, but a very good communications between engineers, producers and musicians. Plus a connection that people are willing to help, and of course invest much on good gears and know exactly how to use them.

We enjoy our mastering session very much and a great exchange about music, audio and local scene. Hopefully we will have more and more projects working together.

We have been Wavelab user sine Version 1.6! i forgot how many years has passed. From the beginning and till now, i still like Wavelab in the great bit-depth transparent. When you playback a file from AES and capture the AES input back to Wavelab, it’s big transparent. If you forget to plug-in a dither on the master panel, the data will be truncated.

Wavelab never touch the audio data back of the mastering engineer. This is really the most important issue in digital audio production. In Version 6, we are now able to use external gear as a plug-in on the mastering panel. We requested this features for almost 6-7 years. The new spectrum editing is similar to the Izotope RX, Algorithmix ReNovator, Ceder Retouch etc.

We think the included plug-ins of Wavelab is not up to date. The algorithms quality cannot compete with Samplitude and Sequoia, but work as a DAW core it’s perfectly fit our needs. Plus you can always use VST plug-ins such as FLUX, PSP, Algorithmix great plug-ins.

As a side note, the above screen print is from the official Steinberg website, our own custom preset has much better presentation and professional outlook.

There is a new application that draws quite a buzz in mastering and post production world. The Izotope RX restoration program. Five special areas in restorations:

(1)Hum Removal (2) Declipper (3) Declicker (4) Denoiser (5) Spectral Repair

Timeline spectral editing and repair has became a very efficiency and good mythology to clean up certain frequency in the timeline without hurting other areas. it’s like using photoshop to remove certain parts in a photo and replace with the existing content from the photo. We have done some very well known analogue tape restoration projects for Fung Hang Record (AM6002, AM6003). We look forward to add this in our tool list and expand our possibility
