『始めは小さくても良い』
よくさ、最近スタートアップブームだからビジョンは？とかマーケットの規模は？とか色んなことを皆んないう、でもそれってどうなの？という質問をしてみた。Richardさん的には、いやー僕も最初はよーわからんかったよーノリで始めたCD屋だし、Virgin Airも中古のボーイング1機から始めたし。ビジョンは大事だけどそれよりも初めて、続けていくことのほうが難しいし大事だと思うな。なんでもやってみる事だよね。とのこと。僕も同感。よくエンジェル投資家の方と話す時も「どうせピボットするからね」という話になる。だからビジョンがそもそも全然違う方向に変わることもよくある。それよりもやってみて、見直して、またやってみることを継続的に出来ることが大事なんだと思う。
『世界を良い方向へ変える』
どんな会社に投資したいですか？という質問。
それは世界を良い方向へ変えたいと思っている会社かな、と、「世界ってちとデカイんですど、、、」って追加質問。
世界の一部でいいと思う、自分が得意な分野、影響を及びせる分野、パッションがある分野、そして自分がエンジョイ出来る分野、そこにフォーカスしてそこにある問題を解決すればそこは良くなるでしょ、それをみんながやればいいと思う。お金だけのためのビジネスは面白くないよね。
と、いう感じ。確かに得意、影響、パッション、エンジョイの軸で考えるとそんなに多くはないかも、良く病気を患っている人がその同じ病気を持っている他の人のためにサービスを開始するけどこれも同じ理屈だよね。
『人生は楽しまないには短すぎる』
これうまく日本語に表現できないのだけど、Life is too short to not to have fun、という感じ。
100%同意。特に「今」を楽しむことに情熱を注ぐことが大事だと思う。Steve Jobesがスタンフォードの卒業式で言ってた「If you live every day like it’s your last, someday you’ll almost certainly be right.」もうだそし実はこの言葉はガンジーも同じようなことを言っている。Richardさんを見ていると楽しくてしょうがない感じがする。いろんなことを真面目にどうしたら一番面白いかを考え抜いてるし決して楽な道を選ばずエンジョイするためにはそれに見合った努力をする。彼の側にいて思ったのは皆んな彼を愛しているという事、それは彼が惜しみない愛情を皆んなに注いでいるから、それは島に着いた瞬間のwelcomeの仕方から最後のビーチパーティーまで本当に一貫していてこんなにも愛情溢れる人に出会えたのは奇跡だと思った。
『Give,Give & Give』
これは本人が言っていたわけではないけど、僕が感じた事。
彼の精神にはこれが自然とあるんじゃないかなと思う。どうやったら周りの皆んな（動物含め）をhappyに出来るか？その辺を考え抜いているというか、自然にしている気がする、そして何の見返りも期待せずにGiveしていく。これはねーなかなか出来ないですよw どうしても人間ある程度の見返りを考えてしまうでしょ、普通は、だから彼のような物腰、態度、人への対応は本当に見習うべき事だらけ、決してsnobbyにならずにこれが出来るような人間になりたいなと心から思う。
『最後に』
本当にこの旅に行くことにして良かった。僕の人生はこれで完全に変わったし、ここで得られたものを少しでも今後関わる人たちへ還元できるように頑張りたい。もちろんここに行けたのは僕が【S】を始めるときに支えてくれた多くの方々のお陰、この場を借りてその皆んなには本当に感謝を伝えたいと思う。
さて、ここまでは今回の旅で感じたことを書いてきたけど、これからについて、この旅のお陰で自分の目指したい方向が見えた。今はまだ何も無いけど、2015年前半にそのための準備をし、2016年には始動、そして次はフリーザーのレベルで再会したいと思う。

[Starting small is ok]
I remember one of the big Lima was asking; what is your advise on starting a company? How could you make something huge like this? Richard said, well nothing was so big at first, it all started with a small CD shop, one second hand boeing and so on. Vision is important but trying it and continuing it is more important and also difficult. I totally agree on this, as we all know lots of the startups will change their business model so the vision could totally become something different. We all say, every one has an idea, some will take action, few continues and only a hand-full will never give up.
[Make the world a better place]
Again the big Lima was asking, “What kind of company would you like to invest in?”
Richard said, a company that could make the world a better place.
Well, world is bit big, but if you look at what you are good at, passionate, influenceable and enjoy, there are not too much of it, then you need to find the problem in that world and fix it. Just making money is not an interesting business. I think this is the right way to go, for example, we see some handicaped entrepreneur who are making great service for the people with the same handicap.
[Life is too short not to have fun]
I 100% agree on this. I think it’s so important to enjoy the “present”. Steve Jobs said the same thing in different words at the graduation ceremony in Stanford. "If you live every day like it’s your last, someday you’ll almost certainly be right”. Mahatama Gandhi also said the same. Looking at Richard, it seems he is enjoying every possible moment in his life, he seriously thinks how to enjoy and does not take the easy path. I also realised that everyone loves him, even the Lima’s. This is all because he has such a huge and warm love to everyone. I could see and feel all of his love from the welcome to the closing beach party. To me, if felt like a miracle to be able to meet such a person.
[Give, Give & Give]
He did not mention this, but I felt he has this kind of mind naturally in his hart. Including the lovely animals, he was thinking “how he could make everyone happy” and he does not look for anything in return. Only want us to have fun. This is not easy but well worth to practice your self. Of cause we can not give what we don’t have but everyone has a smile and also could have warm feeling for others. I think starting from there is not bad at all.
[Last but not least]
From my deepest hart, I am really glad that I decided to make this trip. My life has totally changed and I am willing to share and spread what I learned from this to the people around me. The reason I could be there was because of [S]. And I would like to thank to those whom helped and supported me when I started out the project. Thanks guys :)
Going forward, I have found my path, where I want to be and what I want to do. Yet, there is nothing today, but the planning has already started and I am sure things will come to light in 2016. Then I hope I will be a “Jedi” next time.
