Nobel price physics 2008

I have been talking about this year Nobel price especially in physics because of two reasons:
-My background in this field even if I do not read recently any publication in this area but still frm time to time I like to talk about it.
-This year the Nobel price in physics went to three japanese scientists, and I was asked many times: What does this theory can be helpful for our daily life?
Hard question! The work of these scientists started decades ago; and it was a continuous work of earlier work of great works for subatomic particles. Subatomic particles include the atomic constituents electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are composite particles, consisting of quarks.Chez Nous
Experimental research and theory are both the leading process to discover the smallest particles in this universe. People started to be interested in the lives of the new laureats, but few know that the price they were awarded were fruit of long years success surely but failure as well.
So HOW DOES SUBATOMIC PHYSICS IMPACT OUR LIVES?
The science-driven demands of subatomic physics lead to innovations that benefit society as a whole. For example, accelerator technology that was originally developed for basic subatomic physics is now widely used for such diverse applications as cancer therapy, studying the structure of viruses, designing new drugs and developing new semiconductors and microchips.
