相撲がSUMOに‥？？
The sumo tournment has started three days ago and could not resist talking about this sport that I like(d).
The Sumo shinto ritual was scandalized by series of scandals; I like Sumo but it is hard
to keep watching it after all these scandals:
-Yokozuna playing soccer after refusing to participate in a tour due to injury.
-The death of 17 year old during a training session.
-Three rikishi smoking or accused of smking illegal substances.
In another sport this may not seem very important, but in Sumo considered as a ritual
this is an issue and should be taken seriously. Many think that it is time to change,
change yes but change what?
I agree with the change if it brings new blood in the sport. Sometimes you get bored
watching the same faces and the same way of fighting. In the 2008 Olympics japanese
judoka were surprised with new way called "JUDO" compared with the "柔道". I think it is
time to look deep in how to win fight since both sports are about winning.
最近の相撲界は問題が山積みです。
相撲には、他のスポーツと違って、日本の神道の精神を含んだ、国技という特殊な位置にあります。
そのため、新しい風を吹き込むことはなかなか難しいような印象を受けます。
しかし、国技を次の世代に継承していくためには、人々を引き寄せる魅力がほしいもの。
伝統を守りつつ、新しいスタイルを確立することが必要と思われます。
柔道ももともとは日本で生まれたスポーツ。
いまや世界中で愛されるスポーツになりました。
柔道もJUDOと名称を変え、それにつれて、世界ではJUDOの新しい技が次々に生まれています。
日本はもはや、世界のJUDOの技を習得しなければ勝つことがでいないとまで言われています。
相撲と柔道。今までのスタイルを変えざるを得ない状況がきているようです。
相撲もいつの日かSUMOと名前を変えてしまう日がくるのでしょうか。
そうならないように願わずにはいられません。
