noisy announcement
When I came to Japan I read an article from a Japanese famous writer, about how Japanese announcement放送 are noisy! I did not realize first but more I visited shops, retailers, department stores more I started to understand the writer frustration.
Any shopping place has its own characteristic “music” or “noise”, take Bic camera, Yodabashi camera, let alone Akihabara. Beside the characteristic music of each place, there are always some announcements in case shoppers forget to buy the day’s “special”.
You can go blindfolded to any department stores and you will find the name by just listening to the music played over and over.
In the train, the announcement about not forgetting the umbrella and keeping the cell phone on “manner mode” is streamed on daily basic. I am wondering if most of the travelers are listening to these announcements since they are busy with their portable music devices or playing games on their cell phones.
Even on TV, there is always a music and background sounds to keep the programs “alive” and omoshiroi.
Even the garbage truck has its own melody with announcement about how to put the garbage out.
Iam not sure if this has any consequences on our health, but sometimes I feel stress from hearing the same refrain over and over again.
