School time

School time, end of holidays, start for preparation for exams and classes... many ways to explain the end of August and Obon yasumi for students.

School has been synonymous with fear of failure. The students learn at early age that unless they get good score, their future will be in jeopardy. The system school is hard and sometimes infernal for students that some of them drop of school before they reach a level with which they can find a decent and secure job. Some think that this system is in fact behind the strength of Japanese economy. May be, but with the birth rate decline and more students droping from school I think it is time to find a way to keep kids interested in school while teaching them the burden they and responsibility they have to bear.
