Currently, I'm enthralled with Winsor McCay's "Little Nemo in Slumberland" (Taschen hardcover edition with all comics published between 1905 and 1914.)

c’est une bossa nova♪

I've had this edition for a while, but never really got into it.
Recently, I can't put it down and I love reading a few pages right before bed.(^∇^;)
A few (bad photographic;;;) example panels (out of order)::

The story is predictably slow-paced and most of the Sunday entries are "uneventful." A lot are more nightmarish than child-friendly, and the speech can be charmingly inane.
And, of course, it goes without saying that McCay's art is lush and innovative, and he's had a tremendous impact on comics thereafter. If you're into comics at all, it's a definite must-read.
