It was utterly bizarre to fly into D.C. at 9am and fly out by 5pm!

The embassy experience itself was an interesting success. Our new passports should arrive in a few months. Good.
D.C.'s downtown is gorgeous. Very European (because of all the historic houses/buildings), but distinctly American. The subway was a refreshing way to get around as well. It would never work in Florida, however.
I got a small 2009 calendar with an Art Nouveau theme and a mini-pocket mirror from a little gift shop.
I love art themed calendars. And the vintage/cottage embroidery design on the bag-shaped mirror.
