Why is one of the most family-centered holidays in Japan also during the most uncomfortable month of the year?  I always look forward to August because relatives visit from other parts of Japan.  I'm always happy to see my nieces and nephews, and their children.  But it's SO HOT and humid!

It would be wonderful if the big family holiday was in spring or autumn, wouldn't it?  We could enjoy the lovely weather together with all our visitors.

Maybe I should look at it differently.  I should try to see it in a more positive light.  (もっと前向きのように見る)

OK--I will try:

How wonderful that during this most uncomfortable time of the year--when we can't go outside and we don't feel motivation to do anything--our relatives come to visit!  Reuniting* with loved ones is such a welcome comfort during a time that would otherwise be depressing and boring.

*reunite

re + unite = to meet each other again after a separation
