Yesterday my son and his fiancee (婚約者) came to our house for dinner to fomally announce their engagement (婚約). What a happy occasion! Our family is so lucky to be blessed (恵まれてる) with this wonderful young woman.
As we were talking, she told us that her father is a good musician. When I asked her what kind of music her father played, she said that he liked to play country and western music. She told us that her father especially likes a musician named Willie Nelson （ウィリー・ネルソン）, and that he likes to perform Willie Nelson's songs.
Have you ever heard of Willie Nelson? He's a very famous musician, actor and author. He's 88 years old now.
Oh my goodness! What a coincidence! I grew up listening to Willie Nelson's music. My brother lives near Willie Nelson's ranch (牧場）, in Texas. In fact, he sent me a video yesterday of his visit there for a concert.
When Willie Nelson was young, he was a DJ at the tiny radio station in my home town. He would announce our high school's various sports games on the radio.
This is one of my favorite Willie Nelson songs. How many times did I listen to this song growing up? At that time, I wasn't particularly interested in it. But my father listened to it often in his spare time, so it was just a part of the background of my childhood. This song is soaked into my bones. It's so, so lovely.

Easter (復活祭) will be on April 17 this year. I will bake a cake in the form of a sheep to celebrate. My grandmother never cooked, but she did make a sheep cake for Easter sometimes. I will try to remember to take a photo when I make it so I can show you.
And I will be sure to share a piece of cake with my soon-to-be daughter-in-law!
