Hello! How are you today?
Today, I have been doing some decluttering.
When my daughter started high school, I went to Nitori and bought two shelves. I put those shelves in my living room for my daughter to put all of her school things on. I wanted everything to be in one area, not scattered around the house. (散らかってる).
After 3 years of high school, those shelves are stuffed (ぱんぱん)with textbooks, papers, notebooks, and many other things.
Since my daughter left home to go to university last April, I have been thinking that I should declutter this area. But I miss my daughter, and I didn't want to clear away her things. Having this messy (散らかってるの違う言い方)area made me feel like my daughter was still nearby.
But today, I decluttered that area. Now there are many, many bags of paper garbage sitting in my entrance (玄関) waiting for recycling day.
All of my children have grown up and are living their lives independently now. We call that an "empty nest".
It's time for me to do some serious decluttering!
