There are many managed ecosystems that sustainably provide ecosystem services to the local people.
These harmonious landscapes are nurtured by productive activities developed through long-term interactions between nature and people.
In many areas in Japan, such landscapes occupy a place between urban centers and pristine ecosystems, and are called “satoyama”.
This film introduces the results of eight-year efforts and observations on the relationship between satoyama and biodiversity.
