Do you know your reading rate in English as a second language? An average American whose first language is English--with average education and intelligence--reads about 200 to 400 words a minute for comprehension, 100 to 200 words for learning. (from Wiki-Reading Process So, it will be a great help for your study to know your own reading speed for it will give you a measurement of progress.

There were 1574 words in this exercise. I chose the longest reading comprehension question from the sample test. You need to read 300 words plus to finish the passage within 5 minutes. If you read 200 words a minute, it will take more than 7 minutes, which is too long. (There are other questions to solve.) The point is to get used to reading English writing longer than 500 words at a time by starting from one paragraph and keep increasing the number of them.
この文章には 1574語ありました。サンプルテストの中の最も長い読解問題を選びました。5分で読み終えようとすると、一分間に300語以上読まないといけないことになります。テストには他の問題もありますから、一分間に 200語では7分以上かかることになり、それでは時間がかかり過ぎです。重要な点は、一度に 500語以上の英語の文章を読み慣れることです。最初は1段落で始め、徐々に数を増やしていけばいいのです。
