I am home. It took a while to return to this blog. How is everyone doing? I have replied to all messages and comments that I received during my absence.
ただいま～。ブログに戻るのに少し時間がかかりました。皆さん、いかがお過ごしですか？ブログをお休みしていた間に頂いたメッセージやコメント全部、返事を致しました。
Various emotional reactions were provoked while I was reading your messages. I was embarrassed, got angry, was sometimes disappointed. But I am sure that the writers had not imagined that their messages would cause me to be.
メッセージを読みながら、色々な感情が湧き起こってきました。恥ずかしくて顔が火照ったり、額に青筋が立ったり、時には沈んだりもしました。でも、書いてくれた方々には、私にこの様な感情を引き起こすとは思いもよらなかったことでしょう。
For the sake of learning English, I will share one of the most outrageous cases here.
英語の学習の為に、もっともぶっ飛びそうな例をここでご紹介します。
Someone told me in his message that he wanted to "make love" to me. Judging from the rest of the message, I do not think he meant it. Making love literally means to have sex or sexual intercourse. My understanding of his message was romantic seduction asking me to love him.
Sorry, that is impossible.
私に、”Make love" をしたいと書いてきた人がいたんです。文面からは、この方が、この表現を意図したのではないと思います。”Making love" というのは、文字通りセックスをすること、性交渉を持つことです。この方は、私に自分を好きになってほしいと、ロマンチックな誘惑を仕掛けたのだと理解しました。
ごめんね。それは、無理です。
When you write your English, please be careful with your word choices. You can type your sentence into the search box of Google, and check to see if your English actually means what you supposed to mean.
英語を書くときは、語彙の選択は慎重になさって下さい。書いた文章をグーグルの検索欄に入力して、貴方の英語が、貴方の言いたい事を意味しているのか、チェックすることをお勧めします。
