Well, how was the listening comprehension exercise for you? I have written three articles with questions on Wolf’s interview with Leo about Steve Jobs. And there was only one who tried and did send me a correct answer. That is Oliver. Congratulations!
さて、皆様にとってリスニングの練習はいかがでしたでしょうか。ウォルフがスティーブ・ジョブズについて、レオに対して行ったインタビューの内容について質問をする記事を 3 つ書きました。そして、たった一人回答を試み、実際に正解を送ってくれた人がいました。オリバーです。おめでとう。
I have noticed that I gradually started losing views every time I post a question. But that was to be expected. Lost interest? I don't think so, because the views are back when I post the answer article. Readers were waiting for the answers. However, I intentionally did not post the translation for each transcription in this series. I wanted you to have a glimpse of your real life when you start to live in an English speaking country. The life is not as easy as that it would always give you correct answers with translation if you wait.
質問の記事を掲載する都度、ビューが減っていくのにも気が付きました。でも、これは予測済みでした。興味を失いましか？そうではないと思います。なぜなら、回答を掲載すれば、ビューは戻りますから。読者の皆様は、回答を待っていたのです。しかしながら、私はこの一連の記事には、意図的に転写の和訳は付けませんでした。英語を話す国に住み始めた時、実生活がどのようなものかちらっとお見せしたかったのです。待ったからといって、常に回答が翻訳付きで与えられるほど、人生は甘くは無いのです。
Oliver said that listening in to the conversation between Wolf and Leo was not easy and he had to listen to the video many times over to obtain his answers. However, this is true for me as well. When I transcribe any recorded materials, I need to listen to them many times for I cannot type as fast as the speech nor I get all the words correctly at my first try. Sometimes the speakers make errors, correct themselves, and mispronounce words, especially on live.
オリバーは、ウォルフとリオの会話を聞きとるのは簡単ではなく、回答を得るまでに幾度もビデオを聞いたそうです。しかし、これは、私も同じです。録音されたものを転写するときは、話す速さについていけるほどタイプも速く有りませんし、最初の試みで全てを正しくタイプしてしまえるわけではありませんので、何度も聞かなければならないのです。特にライブなどでは、話し手は間違いもするし、訂正をしたり、発音が正しく無い場合もあります。
Since the transcription of this video is not available nor posted anywhere on the Internet, those who tried must have listened to it themselves. This was difficult, wasn't it? To get yourself to do it actually is the difficult part. The answer will not be at the end of a book, either. And I thank you very much for those who tried regardless you sent me the answers or not.
このビデオは、内容の転写が付きませんし、インターネットの何処かに転写があるわけでもありませんから、リスニングを試みた人は、自分で聴くしか無かったと思います。難しかったと思います。実際に、聞こうとするところまで、自分を持っていくのが難しいところです。回答が巻末に付いているわけではありませんもの。回答を送って下さったかどうかにかかわらず、試みて下さった方々に、感謝致します。
When things are written, it is easier to understand, because you have time and you have the answer in front of you. However, when things are not written, you must depend on your ears, and the speech is fleeting. This is the difficulty in listening comprehension. This is the discomfort that you must overcome and practice to be able to become skilled in listening and understanding any languages.
書いたものというのは、理解するのには少しは容易であろうと思います。時間をかければ回答は目の前にあるわけですから。しかし、書かれていない時は、自分の耳を頼るしかないのです。そして、話し言葉というのは、直ぐに消えて行くものです。聴解の難しさはここにあります。どんな言語でも、聴いて理解する力を付けるためには、この「居心地の悪さ」を克服し、聴いて理解する練習をするしかありません。
