There was a question from one of my readers asking what a "Big Kahuna" means. He says this word appears in the lyrics of Carlos Santana's "Body Surfing."
It is slang for a big shot who has power and authority, but not in a good sense. Let's look it up on the Internet.
The first definition that appears is:
"noun.
1. An individual who can be described as a big shot. A very general term, and there are no distinctions, i.e., a pimp can be referred to as a Big Kahuna, and so can the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. It doesn't matter that they are different types of sleaze. "
(This is a very loose definition. It does not mean actual Fortune 500 CEOs.
The second definition is:
an important or authoritative person (from kahuna, the native Hawaiian term for a healer/priest)
Cited from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Big%20Kahuna

When you meet one of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, please never ever address the person ”Big Kahuna."
