三宝の材料は吉野檜、とても良い匂いがします。そして三宝もリースも実は製材過程で出た端材を使ったもの。自然の恵みを大切に使った工芸品です。
その講師吉谷木工所さんと、花井商店さんが奈良吉野にあるのです。
吉谷さんは、伝統的な三宝を作りながら、三宝の技術を生かして、現代の生活になじむインテリアも創作しています。
花井商店さんは、三代続く吉野杉の材木屋さん。樹齢180年の吉野杉を真っ二つに切る作業を見学しました。デザインを学んで実家の後を継いだ花井さんは素敵な女性です。彼女が作る吉野杉の面皮を使った、髪飾りやピアスは素朴なのにスタイリッシュ。
お父さんはベレー帽に鉛筆をさした昔ながらの職人さん、渋いです。
自然豊かな吉野を訪れて、奈良の伝統工芸品の生産現場を学びました。
そして吉野川の大きさを知り、吉野杉や吉野檜の香りに包まれてリフレッシュしました。
奈良を訪れる外国人にもぜひ行って欲しい場所です。
I came to Shimoichi Town in Yoshino, Nara. I have lived in Nara for 30 years, but this is actually my first visit to this place.
It all started when I attended a workshop on Nara's traditional crafts.
At the workshop, we made a Sanpo (three treasures) made of Yoshino cypress and a wonderful wreath made of Yoshino cedar bark surface.
The material for Sanpo is Yoshino Hinoki, which smells very good. And both Sanpo and the wreath are actually made from scraps of wood from the lumbering process. They are crafts that carefully use nature's bounty.
The instructor, Yoshitani Wood Works and Hanai Shoten are located in Yoshino, Nara.
Mr. Yoshitani, while making traditional Sanpo, also creates interiors that fit in with modern life by utilizing Sanpo techniques.
Hanai Shoten is a lumber dealer of Yoshino cedar that has been in business for three generations. We observed the process of cutting a 180-year-old Yoshino cedar tree in half. Ms. Hanai is a lovely woman who took over her family's business after studying design. Her hair ornaments and earrings made of Yoshinosugi bark are simple yet stylish.
Her father is an old-fashioned craftsman with a beret and pencil.
We visited Yoshino, which is rich in nature, and learned about the production sites of Nara's traditional crafts.
I also learned about the size of the Yoshino River and was refreshed by the fragrance of Yoshino cedar and Yoshino cypress.
This is a place I would like foreigners visiting Nara to visit.
