Parallels、Parallels Desktop の Update RC を公開

Parallels Software International は、Intel プロセッサ搭載 Mac 上で Windows XP などの OS を仮想マシンとして動作させるソフトウェア「Parallels Desktop for Mac」の次期アップデートのRC版を公開した。



今回のRC（Release Candidate）版で加わった新たな修正項目は以下のとおり。

As a part of commitment to leading the Mac consumer market, we've upgraded the Update RC with the following major additions: - Support for new quad-processor Mac Pro towers outfitted with up to 3.5GB of RAM This addition means that Parallels Desktop for Mac is now compatible with all Intel-powered Apple computers, which in addition to the Mac Pro includes the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini! - Compatibility with developer build of Mac OS X 10.5, code-named "Leopard" - Experimental support for Windows Vista In addition, the Update RC of Parallels Desktop for Mac includes a number of other important upgrades to make your work on Mac more convenient than ever: - Solaris guest OS no longer hangs after suspend/resume - An improved Parallels Tools package - Full support for OpenBSD 3.8 as a guest operating system - G4U hard disk cloning tool now works in virtual machines

筆者の環境ではまだ試していないが、製品候補版ということで前回のベータ版よりは安定していることが期待できる。しかし、Windows Vista の実装はまだ実験段階のようで、いくつかのデバイスドライバではクラッシュすることがあるとのこと。最近公開された Vista の RC版においては、インストール時にクラッシュするという報告もあがっている。
