  応量器は禅僧が食事の際に用いる重ねて収納のできる器。

 

Ōryōki  (応量器) is a set of nested wooden bowls for zen buddist monks to eat meals.

 

It generally consists of 5 bowls and 1 small plate and Zen buddist monks use only these bowls for having meals.

 

通常は5つの器のセットで、一番小さい小皿の様な物は一番大きい椀の下に敷く台として使用されます。

 

欅の木を削り、拭き漆で仕上げられているので木目も美しい器に仕上がっています。
