Hello, I'm Lyrel, who have been doing audio mixing and mastering for 7 years. If you're looking for someone who could mix vocals, master, or do both, I can help you. If you are an utaite/youtaite with a Nico Nico account, check out my mylist with all the videos I helped out from here http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/54985222 If you are still on boat and want vocal mixing done for free, check out the terms and coniditons below, so everything goes smoothly for both you and me. Thanks!

Terms and Conditions:

  • I will do free mixing and mastering for vocals only. If you have an original piece that you want me to work on, please contact me first and we could probably work it out as a cheap commission.
  • I hold the right to accept or decline any offer.
  • Although I will do my best until you are satisfied, please keep in mind that I'm doing it for free; I may ask you accept the piece as is under some situations.
  • I will not tolerate any rudeness or offensive behavior. This will have you blacklisted. Rudeness/offensive behavior includes, but is not limited to: trashtalking about my work to someone else or on social media, being unresponsive, threatening me, taking all the credits (or giving a third party credits for the work I did), etc.

After you accept the terms and conditions above, please refer to below for how I want you to record and send me the audio files.

Vocals:

  • Use a microphone and an audio interface to record. If you have a mic that connects to the PC with a USB, that's ok too as long as there is no latency issue.
  • Be sure to record vocals with bit depths at 16 bits or above, and sample rates set at or above 44.1kHz. Check settings of both your DAW and your audio interface for this.
  • Make sure to keep the gain down so your recordings won't clip.
  • Record and render your vocals in mono.
  • Render the vocals in wav or any other lossless formats. I will not take mp3 formats.
  • No need to normalize or de-noise your vocals. Give me the raw files.
  • Make separate tracks for vocal parts that overlap. For example, if your lead vocal overlaps at a particular point, separate them out to lead track 1 and lead track 2.
  • Please make sure to time your vocals exactly to the instrumental/off vocal. Check if your vocals line up as you intend by importing the inst  and your rendered tracks together into your DAW.
  • Name your audio files (e.g. lead, harmony, chorus, etc. You can name files "lead 1" and "lead 2" or something like that for parts that overlap).
  • Send the files to me as a zip.

Tips for better vocal takes:

  • Position your microphone well, don't lean in too close to the mic, don't breathe into the mic too much, close your windows and curtains, shut your bedroom door, and use a pop filter.
  • Always be mindful of the levels you're recording at. If your recording clips, there is nothing I can do but ask you to record again.

Instrumentals/Off vocals/Backtracks:

  • Please send me the original instrumental file. You can find them from the artist's/vocaloP's HP, piapro page, or link that he/she posts on the vid.
  • Please do not send me files that were encoded/ripped by a third-party software unless that is the only way you are able to get the inst. I will not take any responsibility for consequences you face for how and where you got your inst.
  • wav and other lossless formats are preferable. But I understand many vocaloPs and artists upload inst as mp3s, so I'm fine with that as well.
  • If you changed the key when you recorded, tell me how many semitones you changed. Send me the inst in the original key, so I can change the inst key on my end.

Miscellaneous:

  • Include a txt or doc inside the zip. In the txt/doc, bulletpoint requests that you have for me regarding the commission. Although it is not required, I would greatly appreciate if you could also inform me which mic and audio I/F you use.
  • If you have an example that you want me to reference for mixing, send me the URL in the doc/txt or the downloaded mp4 inside the zip.

I will correct the pitch and timing of vocals, but do not expect too much. Please bear in mind that there is only so much modern audio techs can do for you if you have poor recordings, so always try your hardest to record well. It's always best practice to follow the above instructions for the end product to sound awesome!

That's it!
