親子でフードロス削減に努力！
フードバンクと食堂「書屋花甲」を運営
台湾でいち早くフードロス削減に携わってきた、方親子の活動が注目を集めている。台北市萬華で町内会長を務める方荷生（ファンフーセン）は、20年ほど前から高齢者やホームレスなどに弁当を配給してきた人物。現在も毎日500個の弁当を作っている。
方によれば、こうした慈善活動を続ける中で大量の食材が必要となり、市場や量販店などと交渉し、売れ残った食材を集めるようになったという。2013年には台湾初のフードバンク「南機場幸福食物銀行（ナンチーツァンシンフースーウーインハン）」を設立。その後、各地に賛同者を得て、2016年には「台湾食物銀行聯合會（タイワンスーウーインハンリエンフーホェイ）」を結成。現在は60もの拠点をもつ。
さらに、「若い世代にも理解を深めてもらいたい」と、2021年には国立台湾大学近くにカフェレストラン「書屋花甲」をオープン。料理人である息子の方億傑（ファンイーチエ）が店長となり、フードバンクの食材を活用した定食を供している。
また、複数の著名ベーカリーの売れ残りのパンも入手。これらを検査し、袋に詰め変えた後、店先の冷蔵庫に保管し、誰もが自由に持っていける仕組みをつくっている。これは「台湾食物銀行聯合會」に属する一部の拠点でも実施しており、合わせて1週間で約2トンのパンを再利用しているという。
方親子のこうした取り組みは高く評価され、「書屋花甲」はリピーター率も高い。台湾のフードロス削減の動きを広めている。

Operating a food bank and a cafeteria "Shuya Huajia
The activities of a father and son, who were among the first in Taiwan to be involved in food loss reduction, are attracting attention. Fang Husheng, neighborhood president of Wanhua, Taipei City, has been distributing boxed lunches to the elderly and homeless for about 20 years. He still makes 500 lunchboxes every day.
In 2013, he established Taiwan's first food bank, "Nan Chi Tsan Hsin Hsu Wo Yin Han," which has since gained support from various regions. Later, with supporters in different parts of the country, he formed the "Taiwan Food Bank United Association (Tai Wan Soo Woo Yin Han Lien Huei)" in 2016. It now has as many as 60 locations.
Furthermore, in 2021, he opened a café-restaurant called "Shuya Hua Jia" near National Taiwan University, hoping to "deepen the younger generation's understanding of Taiwanese cuisine. His son, Fang Yi-chieh, a chef, is the manager of the restaurant, which serves set menus that utilize food bank ingredients.
He also acquires unsold bread from several prominent bakeries. These are inspected, repackaged, and stored in the store's refrigerator, where they can be freely taken by anyone. Some of the locations belonging to the "Taiwan Food Bank United Association" are also doing this, and together they recycle about 2 tons of bread per week...
