February 4th was Risshun,
the beginning of spring.
In the distant past, the Japanese
new year started on Risshun.
Around this time of year, I feel like
having Ichigo Daifuku, rice cake
stuffed with a whole strawberry
and red bean paste.
Every year, I visit Ikkoan Kashiko,
a Japanese Sweets shop.
Ichigo Daifuku from this shop uses
white bean paste instead of red bean paste
which makes it look prettier! I had it with
tasty matcha green tea.
Daifuku literary means “good fortune”,
so it’s good to have it at the old new year’s day!?
2月4日は立春。
この時期になると
必ず食べたくなるものがある。
春の訪れを感じさせるいちご大福。
毎年たずねるのは、一幸庵かしこ。
こちらのいちご大福はなんと白餡。
やわらかいお餅に包まれた白餡と
丸ごと苺は、見た目もかわいらしい♪
茗荷谷で人気の一幸庵のご親戚とのこと。
美味しい抹茶と供にいただきます。
