There was one interview with a press from 11am.
Only two days(new year) to Indo-Japan 60th anniversary. This timing is a coincidence but meaningful and happy thing to have such collaboration.
Our collaboration is meaningful, more than the meaning of cultural/international exchange. Naturally we have the responsibility to our production since this is going to be presented at BRM 14th, but I think we artists first need to enjoy the process of creation, and inspire each other. Actually I myself feel really exciting because the ideas spring out from each other in the studio. It's very interesting.
If I were to write the process of the creation right now, I would say we are in the process of finishing up the outline of the first to the middle part. There's yet some unorganized part, but we continue to rehearse in order to make it complete.
Also the parts I made in Japan, and the frame(20mins) which Savita, India side director created, started to fit gradually. Also the communication with Sojit who joined from the creation in India is interesting and stimulative ones.
One thing that's clear is that our physicality on the stage is totally different. And that difference makes a strong contrast, and in effect, giving the work a depth. The difference of the physicality or our background based on the different discipline were expected from the beginning. So in order to improve the quality and completeness of the dramatic elements of the work itself, we sublime this physicality, and make one work that has consistency.
The idea has come out to no limit.
I think it's good thing which shows that we both stimulate each other. We need to face the theme "women" by exploring the representation of relationships.
Our title of the co-production work is "Looking in & out." I'm thinking to express "in..inside, inner, inner part" with Japanese performers. Also I'm thinking the ways to approach to create good chemical reaction between Savita's performance "out...outside, the external factors surround women."
This sounds like as if both team is divided, but there's no such restrictions. Through the current process, we explore our clear standing positions so we are 'alive' on stage. I want to proceed in a way we can reach the conclusion as soon as possible.
It is very stimulating though. In international co-production process, it's often the case that topics such as social matters and cultural exchanges dominate the conversation. Of course it is an important factor but here, we first need to catch up each other's impulse by performing together, looking for the fit to incorporate each other's ideas, and by implementing those constantly, this work can be lead to the completion.
I wonder how Savita thinks of this production.
I'll keep update the note.

Savita
