PERTH (miningweekly.com) - Gold miner Allied Gold on Tuesday reported increased gold production for the quarter ended September.

During the three months to September, Allied Gold produced some 36 085 oz of gold, comiron ore seperation equipments pared with the 28 344 oz produced in the previous quarter. For the nine months to September, the mine produced some 77 157 oz of gold.

Allied’s Simberi operation, in Papua New Guinea, produced some 13 899 oz during the September quarter, and 44 897 oz during the nine months.

Production during the quarter was slightly lower than forecast, owing to a number of high rainfall days, the miner said. Grade for the quarter was 1.07 g/t gold, and recovery was at 87%.

At the Gold Ridge project, in Guadalcanal, Allied produced some 20 186 oz during the three months to September, and around 32 260 oz for the calendar year to date. Mill throughput for the quarter was around 459 990 t, with grade at around 1.96 g/t gold, and recovery at 69%.

Allied said that this was in line with management expectations of continual improvement in operational metrics throughout the remainder of 2011.

For the current December quarter, Simberi was expected to produce at the lower end of between 14 000 oz and 18 000 oz, while repairs were made to the ball mill, while the Gold Ridge operation would produce between 18 000 oz and 23 000 oz as additional access to the higher-grade Namachamatta pit occurred.
