bluegrass musicがバックグラウンドで、guitar, banjo, mandolin, steel guitar, dobroなどの楽器を演奏するマルチプレイヤーです。

などのBandでの活躍を経て、1971, The Eaglesの結成に参加しました。

Bernieが10代の時にLeadon家は南カリフォルニアSan Diegoに引っ越し、BernieはSan Diegoで、Bluegrass Bandの ”The Scottsville Squirrel Barkers”に参加します。The Scottsville Squirrel Barkersには、Folk RockのPioneerとなった”The Byrds”でのちに活躍するChris Hillmanもメンバーとして在籍していて、以後二人には長い親友関係が続きます。

↓Chris Hillmanは、彼がレコーディングした最初のアルバム、The Scottsville Squirrel Barkers “Blue Grass Favorites”が2024.9月、60年ぶりに再発され、『I am so happy.- Chris』と、とても嬉しそうにしていました。
◆ The Continentals(The Moundy Quintet)
その後BernieはFlorida州Gainesvilleで”The Continentals”にStephen Stillsの後任として参加、Bandは”The Moundy Quintet”と名称を変更しました。このBandでは、Gainesville High Schoolの同級生であるDon Felderと一緒に活動しました。
