Pgs. 148-149
1) Give 3 examples of how number based models may be used. (3 pts)
2) Explain what is meant by optimum value. How do number based models help attain this? (3 pts)

Pgs. 150-153
1) What is the meaning of the term game play? Give a specific example from a game that you enjoy. (4 pts)
2) What do video game makers do to make their simulations as realistic as possible? (2pts)
3) In your own words, explain how simulators are used to train pilots. (4 pts)
4) List 2 benefits of computer simulation. (2 pts)
5) What is the meaning of the term vitural reality? (4 pts)

Pgs. 144-147
1.) The advantages are:
- it helps designers to see it will look like.
- cheaper
- it is easier to try out different ideas
- The computer can show what the model looks like from the insisde and outside

2.) 4 ways a team of archeologists would use are:
- they would use any fragments of objects
- find foundations and parts of walls to give them dimensions of a building.
- they can create a scale plan of the building and turn it into a 3-D model

Pgs. 148-149

1.) 3 examples of how number based models may be used:
- multinational companies use these models to predict how successful they should be in a year.
- to predict the future envrionmental change

2.) Optimum value means the maximum value. So it is easier to understand

Pgs. 150-153

1.) The term game play refers to a set of rules which the computer faithfully follows. A game that i really enjoy playing are arcade games on the internet. i really enjoy playing those games because you have a whole varaety of games that you can play anytime and also, it does not last for a long time, therefore i dont get bored of it easily.

2.)

3.) Simulators are used to train pilots as it is a look-alike of the cockpit but it never leaves the ground. The simulator trains pilots for it gives them the feeling as if they are in the air but in reality they arent so it is safe and helpful.

4.) 2 benefits of computer simulation are:
- A similator is a computer, therefore you cant cause serious accidents for example when you train pilots

5.) Virtual reality is used in simulations where illusions of something happening are created even though they are not actually occuring.
Pgs. 136-137

1. Explain how electronic temperature sensors work. (5 pts)
2. Explain why the electrical signal from a humidity sensor cannot be fed straight into a computer. (5-6 pts)

Pgs. 138-139

1. When analysing data logging systems you need to make several important decisions. Name 3 decisions that need to be made. (3 pts)
2. What are the choice of sensors you have? (3 pts)
3. Why is it important to calibrate sensors? (3 pts)
4. Can a calibrated sensor be used with any interface? Why or why not? (3 pts)

Pgs. 140-141

1. Often what type of systems are visual data logging systems? Where are these systems often located? (2 pts)
2. Give two examples of the use of visual data logging. (2 pts)
3. You own a nursery garden in which you have several large greenhouses. Explain how you would ensure that the environment in each greenhouse is right for the plants being grown. (4 pts)
4. What does feedback mean? Give a practical example. (2 pts)

pgs 138-139
1)When you are analysing data logging sustems, you need to know "What do you need to measure?" , "Which sensors will you need?" and "For how long will the readings need to be recorded?"
2)A temperature sensor, a light sensor and a humidity sensor.
3)It ensures that as soon as you connect up the system and start taking measurements, you are capturing the real values.
4)no becuase this would destroy the calibration and distort the values.

pgs 140-141
1)often,satellite systems, measuring systems.
2) to show the effects of such things as coastal erosion, changes in vegetation, agricultural development, land temperatures and urban growth.
3)Use infra-red images and know clearly how heat energy is radiated from
4) feedback means by detecting what is going on and adjusting the outputs according to the inputs are said to have feedback.
for example, temperature sensor says its cold, so the system turns on the heaters and closes the ventilators. This will raise the temperature and the sensor will telll the system that the temperature is rising.

1) the differencce between application and Language software is that application software is specifically developed to help you perform a task, and it is easy to install onto your computer. But language software is used to reate both system and application software.
2)Default settings:It is a way of being installed in the way that the software company thinks most people will want. An example is when a document is automatically saved in when you are using word processor
Template:It is a predesigned file that sets up a structure for a document
Expert System:an application that performs a task by a human expert
Artificial Intelligence: is a part of computer science concerned with getting computers to behave lie humans
3)Medicine, to diagnose illness
House buying , to choose the best mortage
Gas Industry, to find faults in the gas supply

1.) High level language include programs such as C++ and Pascal. they enable programs to run on almost all types of computers.

2.) The high level language often used to write business progrmas is COBOL (Common Business-Oriented Language).

3.) One reason why Visual Basic is a popular programming language is because its programmers can use predefined libraries of code that can be adapted for their application.

4.) Macro is a series of commands that a program can perform automatically.

1)Java is a good computer language to use for Internet applications because it runs on all of the major operating systems, small Java applications ensure that everyone can acess web content
2)An applet is a small Java applicaion that ensures everyone to access web content
3)a plug-in is a small piece of software that plugs into a larger application to add more features
4) the advantages of saving a file in PDF format is that the content and layout of a document is preserved, yet can be veiwed on any compuer using the free downloadable software Acrobat Reader.
