Wisdom 7:7
“Wherefore I prayed, and understanding was given me: I called upon God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me.” KJV
As Christians, we are tasked to seek God’s wisdom. Wisdom is not an abstract concept, as it is often assumed to be. It is not knowledge we can get by studying, nor is it experience we can gain from age. Wisdom is a divine expression. It is God lighting the path for us to walk in life.
We all start the same in life. Solomon speaks on this in the Book of Wisdom. No matter if you’re a beggar or a king, you formed in the womb of your mother. We all die the same, too, no matter our social status in life. This is why we must seek wisdom. Without true wisdom, our beliefs and knowledge sit on a weak foundation.
Our modern world is plagued with a crumbling foundation. So many people drown in anxiety and depression because they know, even if they don’t realize, their lives stand on faltering ground. When the ground beneath our feet crumbles to sand, how can we find inspiration, kindness, or love? Our society cracks and fractures. The result is our streets are filled with litter, our buildings are stained by graffiti, and our hearts wilt in darkness.
It’s not only Japanese who see this now. I came across Anming’s video below talking about the darker side of Tokyo where she lives. Please watch and see her perspective.
Though life seems impossibly dark, there is light to find! By asking God to instill in us His wisdom, we can find the path to that light. Wisdom will heal the cracks in the foundation of our lives and bring us to greater joy. I will speak in my next post about who the spirit of Wisdom is, and what she can give you.
