これは仮定法の話し言葉です。

= Because of A, I can do B

話し言葉では wasn't for を使って、現在か過去かは関係ありません。
しかし、書き言葉にすると、
仮定法過去と仮定法過去完了のルールにしたがわないといけません。
まず仮定法過去の書き言葉だったら、
Be動詞が were になります。
例えば、
If I were rich, I would travel the world.
If it were cheaper, I would buy it.
従って、
If it wasn't for ～ は
If it weren't for ～ になります。
さらに書き言葉にすると、
倒置法を使います。
If it weren't for ～ は
Were it not for ～ になります。
過去の話し言葉にすると、
仮定法過去完了を使います。
If it wasn't for ～ は
If it hadn't been for ～ になります。
さらに書き言葉にすると、
倒置法を使います。
If it hadn't been for ～ は
Had it not been for ～ ななります。
例えば、
Had it not been for my teacher, I wouldn’t have passed the exam.
先生がいなかったら、私は試験に合格していなかっただろう。
Had it not been for his advice, I might have made a big mistake.
彼の助言がなければ、大きな間違いをしていたかもしれない。
上の例題に戻ると、been がないし、主要動詞は wouldn’t know （現在）なのでD.の had を使えません。
