こんにちは、肺がんのサルベージ手術を受けて4日目です。
日に日に回復してきたことが実感できています。 痛み止めも飲まずにチューブからの痛み止めのみで過ごせるようになりました。
寝返りが未だに痛いですが夜も眠られるようになりました。
今日は院内を歩いて血圧と酸素量を図るリハビリがありました。
2024年夏 身体の異変
人間ドックの結果を鵜呑みにしてしまったこと
咳が続いていたにもかかわらず市販の咳止めのみで対応してしまっていた
私は毎年人間ドックを受けています。また、タバコは全く吸わず、お酒もあまり飲みません。今まで健康体で病気一つせずに過ごしてきましたが、2024年6月に受けた人間ドックでは触診で首のリンパが腫れているので要検査と結果が出ました。 その時受診をすればよかったのですが、仕事が忙しく後回しにしていました。
その年の7月には子供がマイコプラズマ肺炎にかかり、その後私も夜も眠られないような咳で市内の呼吸器内科を受診しました。
レントゲンを取ったのですが異常なしと言われ抗生物質をだされました。マイコプラズマなら3−4ヶ月続くと言われて咳が続いていたので気に留めず過ごしていました。熱もなく咳以外は体調に問題はありませんでした。
そして半年がたった20205年1月少し早歩きをするだけで息切れを感じ、おかしいなと思うように。
ある日、通勤途中に急に左胸が痛みだしました。歩けないほどの痛みでしたがその日は出社し仕事を始めると午後にはだいぶ痛みが収まったので様子を見ることにしました。
そして翌日、血痰が出始めました。流石にこれはおかしいと感じ近くの循環器内科を受診。
レントゲンを取ると影があり、その日すぐにCTを取りました。結果、癌の可能性があるとのこと、すぐにでも大きい病院にいった方が良いといわれ、紹介状を持って翌日の朝、市立病院へ。
喀痰細胞診検査を受け肺がんであると宣告を受けました。
Hello, I'm four days out from salvage surgery for lung cancer. I can really feel myself recovering day by day. I'm now able to get by on just the pain medication from the tube, without needing to take any oral pain killers. Rolling over is still painful, but I'm able to sleep at night now. Today, I had a rehabilitation session where I walked around the hospital to have my blood pressure and oxygen levels checked.
Summer 2024: A physical abnormality
I have an annual physical check-up every year. I've never smoked and I don't drink much alcohol. I've always been healthy and have never had a single illness. However, during my physical in June 2024, the results showed that I needed a follow-up exam because the lymph nodes in my neck were swollen upon palpation. I should have gone for an exam then, but I was busy with work and put it off.
In July of that year, my child got mycoplasma pneumonia, and afterward, I also had a cough that kept me up at night, so I went to a local respiratory clinic. I had a chest x-ray, and they said everything was normal and gave me antibiotics. I was told that mycoplasma can last for three to four months, and since my cough continued, I didn't worry about it. Other than the cough, I had no issues and no fever.
Six months later, in January 2025, I started feeling out of breath just from walking a little faster than usual, and I thought something was wrong. One day, on my way to work, I suddenly had a sharp pain in my left chest. The pain was so bad I could barely walk, but I went to work anyway, and by the afternoon, the pain had subsided a lot, so I decided to wait and see.
The next day, I started coughing up blood. I knew something was definitely wrong, so I went to a nearby cardiology clinic. They took an x-ray and found a shadow, so I had a CT scan immediately that same day. The results indicated the possibility of cancer, and I was told to go to a larger hospital right away. I took the referral letter and went to the city hospital the next morning. After a sputum cytology test, I was diagnosed with lung cancer.

I naively took my physical exam results at face value.

Even though my cough continued, I only treated it with over-the-counter cough medicine.
