2026.3.2(2.10) 佐賀 伝統の“姉の七福神” SEVEN ‘GODS’ VISIT HOMES IN SAGA PREFECTURE 7人の神が佐賀県の家々を訪れる

A community in western Japan has had a visit from the Seven Gods of Good Fortune. Locals dressed扮した as the deities descended on homes Sunday to pray for good harvests五穀豊穣 and good health無病息災.
The traditional event in the Ane District of Kanazawa City in Saga Prefecture dates back more than three centuries. Members of a local group dedicated to preserving it put on costumes and chanted messages口上 of luck縁起のいい as they walked around the community.
The seven also stopped by the meeting hall of a municipal housing complex. They sang Noh chants謡曲 and uttered prayers[prέə] in exchange for food and drinks from the residents.
“I usually don’t dress up like this, so it’s fresh and fun.”
“It’s all about bringing good luck to everyone in the community.”
Members of the preservation group say they hope to keep the tradition alive絶やさない.
◇Oh, yeah. When I watched the news footage, it was interesting to see the men dressed in old-fashioned costumes. They also had very exaggerated makeup, which was funny to see. (It was.)
私案: I usually don’t drink, so it’s good for (my) health.
I usually don’t use this phrase, so it’s new to me.

🔶Today's Takeaways ★冠詞theの発音
・子音の前であっても、“ディ”や、のばして“ディー”と発音することがある。(強調したい、話に区切りをつけたい、話にちょっと間を入れたいなどの理由)
・母音の前であっても、“ザ”と発音することも多くある。
Do they say “theディ” for emphasis?
-yeah, when you really want to emphasize it, you could say “theディ” Japanese like that, but in the U.S., native speakers really don’t pay much attention to using “theディ” versus “theザ.” Some people 👂will even only use “theザ.” (I see.)

The easiest way to get better at anything is to practice a little every day. The“ディ” work you put in will 👂be worth it.
