High class cleaning substances and tested methods should be used to clean LCD screen. The very first thing you have to keep in mind is that LCD screen is not a sheet of glass! The soft film with which LCD screen is made is susceptible to scratches, injury by sharp articles and equally incompatible with offensive cleaners. Anti-glare coatings are provided for most cathode ray tube (CRT) type monitors to minimize reflections and scratches.

It will damage surface coatings too. The coarse shop towels can be linty and also dusty. Strong cleaning agents, polishes and clothes that are chemically treated should be avoided completely while cleaning LCD screens .
Cleaning agents containing acetone, alkalis, acids, phosphates and chlorides or caustics can damage coatings or LCD polarizer. All types of cleaners that claim to leave a surface coating or protective layer are not at all advised for cleaning the monitor of your laptop LCD screen.
Computers are provided with an antiglare coating and any cleaner that leaves behind a coating will harmfully affect the anti-glare coating of the screen. It has been noted that these cleaners leave behind some obstinate smudges which are hard to wipe off.
Micro fibre clothes can be cleaned and used again and again. You can wash it in the washing machine or even wash it by hand, but avoid bleach, fabric softener and so on. They can be boiled to sanitize them against bacteria.
Other points to be noted include safe guarding them against misuse by children, rubbing the surface with items like ball-point pen, screw drivers etc and touching the surface with your fingers.
