アメリカの高級百貨店（デパート）の一つ、
Nieman Marcus (ニーマン・マーカス)
パンデミックで、しばらくデパートやショッピングセンターから遠のいていましたが、久しぶりに行ってきました。
思った通り、デパート内は、そこまで人も多くなく、割と閑散としてはいましたが、それでもお客さんをちらほら見かけました
オンラインショッピングがかなり大きくなって、さらにパンデミックで、店舗を持つ企業は苦戦しているように思います。
ニーマン・マーカスは、1907年から創業しているデパートで、本社はテキサス州ダラス。
コロナで43店舗を臨時休業。そして、破産申請をしたようです。

サンフランシスコのニーマン・マーカスは、ダウンタウンのユニオンスクエアの近くにあります。

ちょっとおしゃれをして行きたいような雰囲気
レストラン内には、結構人がいました。
天井がとてもきれい
まず最初に出てきた
ポップオーバー
温かい状態で出てきて、とても美味しかったです
シュークリームのシュー生地を食べているような
香ばしくて、塩分と砂糖の加減がちょうど良かったです。
いくつも食べたいくらいでした
トリュフのフライドポテト (TRUFFLE FRIES)
若干塩分高いかも、と思いましたが、
厚みがあって、熱々の状態で食べると、止まらなくなるような感じで、これも美味しかったです
パルメザンチーズとパセリがまぶしてあります。
そして、今回のメイン、
カニとエビのルイサラダ（Crab & Shrimp Louie）
ルイ？とお恥ずかしいことに、何のことかわからなかったのですが、
こちらは、ドレッシングのタイプの一つで、マヨネーズに赤唐辛子、ねぎ、青唐辛子が加わったもののようです。
私は、どちらかというとさっぱり系のドレッシングを好みますが、このルイドレッシングは、シーフードとの相性は良い感と思いました。
ロブスタークラブやダンジェネスクラブサンドイッチも気になりました。
店員さんの感じが良かったです
お値段も決してお安くはないで（私からすると）、ちょっとしたイベントの時にまた行きたいです。
実は、このお店で興味があったのが、アフタヌーンティー
日程制限があって予約が必要なので、今回は逃しましたが、
ここのアフタヌーンティーは結構人気があると聞いたので、ぜひ試したいと思います！

One of an American luxury department store; Nieman Marcus
Due to the pandemic, I haven’t gone to department stores or shopping centers for a while. But, I had a chance to visit. It was quiet and as expected, I saw few people inside but a lot at the restaurant.
I believe many retails that have physical stores have been struggling since online shopping got bigger and bigger and the pandemic hit on top of that.
Nieman Marcus has been in business since 1907 and its headquarters is in Dallas, Texas. Apparently, they temporarily closed 43 stores due to the Covid situation and then they filed a bankruptcy (Chapter 11). It looks like they currently have about 37 stores left according to its website.
For San Francisco’s location, Nieman Marcus is located downtown close to Union Square. The restaurant on the 4th floor is called “The Rotunda.” It’s a bit of a fancy place that you might want to wear nice attire. The ceiling was very beautiful and artistic.
A pop-over was served as the first dish. It was warm and delicious! It is like a light fluffy cream puff that has nothing inside. It smelled so good like it was just baked and the amount of salt and sugar was perfect. I could’ve eaten a few of them but I didn’t as there would be other dishes. The next one I had was Truffle Fries. It was probably high in sodium, but it tasted good especially when they were hot. It was one of those fried things that you couldn’t stop eating. They were coated with sprinkles of a parmesan cheese and a parsley.
The main dish for me was Crab & Shrimp Louie salad. It came with “dungeness crab, shrimp, butter lettuce, egg, avocado, tomato, cucumber, asparagus” and a louie dressing. It’s a bit embarrassing but I didn’t know much about Louie. Then I got to know that it’s a type of dressing that is made of mayonnaise, red peppers, green onions and green peppers. I usually prefer a light and refreshing type of dressing and Louie is a bit more on the heavy side but I thought it went well with the seafood. The Lobster Club and Dungeness Crab Sandwich also looked good and I was debating on ordering it.The customer service was also good. I was happy I went there. It’s a little on the pricey side so I’d probably go there again for a special occasion.
In fact, I was first interested in this place for their afternoon tea menu. They serve afternoon tea only for certain days and we couldn’t have it but I will definitely try next time as I heard it’s popular.
