次に適切な使い方の場面の紹介
The appropriate way of using the phrases
Situation a
You are talking to your roommate.
“Can you shed some light on the cinema times tonight?”
“Have you got any idea what time the film is on tonight?”
In this case, giving specific time is needed, not an explanation.
この場合は説明を求めてるのではなく、具体的な時間が必要なので、下の表現が適切です
Situation b
You were just given the information you asked for at a museum.
“That was very helpful”
“I’ll need some time to digest the information”
You need to “digest the information”, so think thoroughly and deeply, if you are reading a contract or making serious decision. In the example above, the matter is simple.
ミュージアムの情報を聞いて、消化する(深く考える)必要はないですよね。もっと複雑な情報をもらった時に下の表現を使いましょう
