Useful expression when you want to make sure something
1. Checking if the other person understands
- Are you still with me?
- Do you know what I mean?
- Are you following me so far?
直訳すると『私の言っていることわかっていますか』
という感じで日本語だと少し失礼に聞こえますが、
相手が理解できているか確認するために日常的に使われている表現です。
2. Ways of checking you understand
- Do you mean....?
- So, are you saying...?
- So, if I understand you correctly...
自分が理解できているか確認する時に使えるフレーズです。
『...』部分に自分が理解した内容を入れてみましょう。
3. Ways of making the person repeat
- I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch the last bit
- I'm sorry, what did you say about...?
- Sorry, did you say...?
相手が何て言ったのかわからない時に確認する表現です。
1個目は『最後に言ったとことがちょっとわからなかった』
という感じですが、失礼ならないように相手を気遣う言い方ですね
