K came first and we talked about being long-sighted vs short-sighted, and using reading glasses and bi-focal glasses. Then, A’chan arrived, and we asked if she was either long or short-sighted, but she said neither. Her eyes are still perfect.
Somehow, we began talking about Pachinko. I said I’ve never played Pachinko, but it’s like the poker machines/slot machines that you see in casinos and clubs. K said Japan does not allow casinos, but it does allow pachinko, horse racing and boat racing, etc.
We wondered if Pachinko was invented by Japan, and whether Korea also has pachinko, but after checking Google, A’chan said Korea doesn’t allow gambling.
I asked what the wheel does on a Pachinko machine – the knob that you see people holding and turning – and K said it controls the strength of the ball shoot.
Just then, we saw one of the nursery teachers with two of the babies. The two babies were wearing the same clothes and K wondered if they were twins, but they didn’t look alike. I asked the teacher and she said, yes, they are twins, so we talked about “identical twins” and “non-identical twins”.
K said her apartment building will have another evacuation drill soon. I said that the danchi where I live has never had any drills, and wondered if K’s apartment building was an expensive one. She said that the monthly management and maintenance fees are expensive, but the car park fee is cheap. I said so they “give with one hand and take with the other”.
K wondered if my wife would be interested in K's felt necklace workshop, but I said my wife isn’t interested in fashion, jewelry, makeup, flowers, etc. She likes IT, computers, music, audio systems, and recently coffee machines. K said she sounds like an intellectual-type. I said she is, but also likes spiritual things and even used to do spiritual healing sessions.
K and A'chan said they like spiritual subjects, so I told them that once my wife had a vision of her and I in a past life. We were in France during the France-Spain war (1635 to 1659), and my wife was a soldier and I was a woman. We were of different social classes - me being much lower than a soldier - and so were not allowed to interact, but we did meet in secret somewhere in a forest near the The Pyrenees mountains.
