夏風邪をひきました！
I got a summer cold.
寝てればいいんですけど、寝れないので、ビデオをつくります。
I should go back to sleep, but I'm wide awake, so I decided to make a video blog.
このビデオでは、おもしろい日本の文化とか、変な日本の文化などを紹介してみようとおもいます。
In this video, I will introduce some interesting japanese cultures and customs.
いろいろインターネットで調べてみました。
I've searched for various things on the internet.
私は日本人なので、おもしろいとか、変だと思いませんが、外国の人はとても驚く文化、習慣、がいろいろありました。
"Because I'm Japanese, I dont think theyre interesting or strange, but foreigners might think it's really weird or surprising.
例えば、日本では、馬の肉を食べます。しかも、生の馬の肉です。馬刺し、といいます。
for example we eat raw horse meat. It is called Basashi.
私は、生きている馬が大好きなので、食べたことはありません。
I love living horses, so I haven't eaten it.
馬刺し、食べみたいですか？

日本では、マスクをつけている人がたくさんいます。
In japan, there are many people wearing surgical masks.
街をあるいていると、あちこちに、マスクをつけている人が普通にいます。
When you walk around town or on the streets, you can see many people who wear surgical masks. It’s pretty common to see.
調べていて驚いたんですが、カナダや、ドイツ、アメリカも？
病気の時以外でマスクをつけて外をあるくのは、怪しいみたいですね。
During my research, I was surprised to find out that in places like Canada, Germany, The US and many other countries, it’s very weird or uncommon to wear surgical masks unless you are sick.
確かに外国の映画で、マスクをしている人をみないですね。
マスクをしているのは、病院の中とか、９１１の人とか。だけですね。
Come to think of it, in the movies, usually I don’t see people wearing surgical masks unless they are in a hospital or the 911 guys.
なんでそんなにたくさんの日本人がマスクをつけているのか、興味があるかもしれせんね。
You may be interested in why so many Japanese people wear masks.
まず１つは、風邪を予防するため、風邪をひかないようにするためです。
私はいつも、毎日ずっとマスクをしていますが、風邪ひきました！
不思議ですねー。
One of the reasons is protections from catching colds or flus.
Although I’m wearing a mask every day at all times, I catch a cold anyways. So…strange…
あとは、マスクをしていると、落ち着く人がおおいみたいです。私も。
Another reason why people wear masks is because it’s comforting to them. I feel comforted when I’m wearing a mask.
たぶん、日本人はシャイな人が多いから、かな？表情を隠せるし、あまり顔をみられたくないのかな？と思います。
This may be because Japanese people can be a bit shy. you can cover your facial expressions and You can cover your facial expressions and hide your face.
たぶん外国の人からすると、本当に変だと思いますが、それが日本人です。
I guess that’s weird from a foreigners point of view, but it’s normal and part of every day life for Japanese people.
それから、女性の人は、すっぴんを隠す為に、マスクをすることが多いです。
Also females wear masks to cover their faces when they aren’t wearing make up.
マスクをつけることについて、どうおもいますか？
