【ペンギン基礎知識 －その４－】

ペンギンの基本知識第４弾、今週はフンボルトペンギンです。
●フンボルトペンギン
フンボルトペンギンは、今、日本国内で飼育されているペンギンのうち一番数が多いペンギンです。飼育している動物園、水族館もとても多いので、このブログをお読みの皆様はおそらくご覧になったことがあるのではないでしょうか。
一方、チリやペルーなどに生息する野生下の個体数は減り続け、絶滅が危惧されている種類になります。生息している地域の環境破壊や地球温暖化など、取り巻く状況はとても厳しいです。
上に書いた通り、チリやペルーに生息するペンギンなので、日本の夏でも外で過ごすことができます。
「ペンギンなのに真夏に外に出しているよ、かわいそう」
という声を聞くことがありますが、もしそれがフンボルトペンギンであれば暖かい地方にいるペンギンなので、まったく問題ありません。そのような時はぜひ、大丈夫なんだよ、とお伝えください！

The forth basic information of penguins is about Humboldt Penguins.
< Humboldt Penguins >
The most number of penguins in Japan is the one of Humboldt Penguins. Many zoos and aquariums keep them, so many persons who read this blog may see them.
On the other hand, wild Humboldt Penguins in Chile and Peru are decreasing and they are on the verge of extinction. Destroying areas where they are living or global warming hit them.
As I wrote above, they live in Chile and Peru, so they can live outside in summer in Japan, too.
"Although they are PENGUINS, they are kept outside in HOT SUMMER. Poor penguins..."
I sometimes hear such talking, but if they are watching Humboldt Penguins, please tell them "No problem!" because wild Humboldt Penguins live in warm areas.
