Today’s lesson was about 敬語. For me it was a lot of fun to teach Keigo. I know we don’t hav me that kind of structure in English. But explaining Keigo in English gave students headache. Lol.

For Keigo, we have honorifics and humble styles. Honorifics are 尊敬語. Humbles are 謙譲語.

To understand the structure of grammar, you first look at verbs and whose actions of these verbs are. If it’s the respectful person’s action, verbs should be honorifics. If not, those verbs are very likely humble styles.

After deciding which verbs you use, you have to Conjugate the verbs. There are many ways to conjugate 尊敬語と謙譲語.
There are more than 15 irregular verbs for conjugation which makes even Japanese confusing which to use. To make the matters worse, the conjugated verbs of 尊敬語　and 謙譲語　are totally different. For the irregular verbs should be memorized before you speak.

I am not sure if I could teach correctly but it is one of the most difficult parts of Japanese language.

I would say that even matured people still make mistakes when you speak 敬語.

I’m not saying that that means we don’t have to learn it. I mean it would help you being very polite and cool when you could speak perfect 敬語.

I personally don’t like it but I respect the person who can fluently use them.

I wish I were like them.

I’m more confident about Keigo than before I teach.
