教科書のクイックQ＆Aで「時間、時」があります。
たまたま通りがかりの人に時間を聞く場合は、
Do you have the time?
Yes. It's nine thirty.
何時かわかりますか。
はい。9時30分です。
がよく使われます。、
あるいは、
Can I ask the time?
Sure. It's nine thirty.
時間を聞いてもいいですか。
ええ。9時30分です。
「can」の代わりに「may」でもいっしょです。
May I ask the time?
All right. It's nine thirty.
時間を聞いてもいいですか。
ええ。9時30分です。
ポイントは、「the」がつくこと。
補足として、
「What time is it？」
は、別の場所での時間を知りたいときに
「What time is it in San Francisco now?」
のようによく使われます。
あるいは、子どもが見たいテレビがあって
「What time is it now?」・・・「What time is it now?」
と聞いてくるときなどに使います。
状況によって使い分けましょう。
