Today, I visited the Royal Perth Hospital as a part of the requirements in communication in Physiotherapy unit.

It's been 600days since I left the hospital where I used to work as a physio.
600days!!
I feel like "finally, I come back"

6 of us were grouped and we had one wonderful supervisor.

The patient we met had a THR surgery yesterday, so out tasks were to obtain subjective information first and did objective examination (observe around the wound, sensation test, circulation test, ROM exam, and MMT).
After we did that, I had a chance to get her to walk with flames in her room.

Yeah, as you know, pretty much the same as I would do when I was working in the hospital.
I didn't find a lot of difference there.
Actually most of them are quite same, equipments, lines, rehabilitations, type of surgery.
So honestly I did not find this hard, actually I had a really good time.

Of course communication is a big challenge.
I knew communication skill is one of the most important skills as a physio as we use biopsychosocial model when we see patient.
But, as I have difficulties with communication, I feel like communication is more important than anything else.
That's good thing.

One of the things I focus on now but not really before is education.
Education is so important for successful progress.
We need to explain why weight bearing is important, why they should do this exercise, how many reps, how many sets, why they can't move the leg in......
That's the thing I find difficult and challenging. But as I said, I wanna improve this skill.

Fortunately, we have a unit called 'Communication in Physiotherapy'
That's one of the reasons why I say Curtin University is really awesome.
They know how important it is, and actually if we do not have good communication skills we'll fail.

Let's do it!!!

I am really happy to be here, learning physio, seeing real patients.
The patient I saw reminded me of my past physiotherapy experience.
It's always good to help patients make them feel better..
My passion never fades away....
