数日前に絵本の使い方講座に出た（zoom）
いやぁ～色々教えてもらえた
私は、今までミニブックをたくさん作ってきた
しかも素敵な絵本や画集に出会うと
つい買ってしまう性質だ
絵本講座の中で、
そんな自分の「絵本大好き」の部分を
先生に、呼び起こしてもらえた
英語教育の中で「絵本を使う意味」から
「使い方のヒント」まで
たっぷり教えて頂いたのだ
受講後、直ぐに調子に乗って
早速クリスマスの歌
So This is Christmas （John Lennon）
でミニブックを作成
今日、大人のクラスで、
その本を使ってみた。
そして違う絵本も、教わった技を使いながら・・
大人の人達にみせてみた
盛り上がった
ワイワイ・ガヤガヤ
一冊の本のまわりに笑い声が渦巻く
絵本の力
大人にも効いたのだ
やった
「なんの為に絵本を使うの？」
そう疑問を投げてくれた先生
その「問い」を大切にしないとって思う
そして、
私は「こりゃ楽しい♪」って所を
一番大切にしたいなぁって思う
そう日記に書きながら、
私には浮かんで来る顔があった。

少しついて来るのに大変さを感じている小学生
私にも原因があるのかもしれない
2020年の英語指導要領改訂後、
少し焦っていた自分がいた？
もしかしたら、何か大切なものを
見過ごしていたのかもしれない
私は立ち止まって
自分のレッスンを見つめる必要が有ると思った
子ども達は、いつも私の先生だ
ちゃんと彼らの目を見ていれば
なにか足りないものや
間違っている物を教えてもらえる
いつも真摯に向き合いたいと思ってきた
この仕事。。
もっと悩んでより良い道を探していきたいなって
今日は素直に反省した
頑張ろう
まだまだ道半ばだ

A couple of days ago, I attended a seminar where I learned a lot about picture books, such as why we use picture books in our lessons and practical hints to teach with books. It was so helpful that I made some of my original mini-books immediately. And today, I used it in an adult class. During the lesson, I also used some techniques I had learned at the seminar. It turned out that it works even for adults.
“What do you use picture books in your lessons for?” is a question asked by the teacher at the seminar. I need to keep this question in mind. To increase my students’ vocabulary, enhance their comprehension, and practice English pronunciation…. All of them are so important, but I want to place the highest value on enjoyment.
While writing this, I thought of a few students who had difficulty catching up with others in the class. Today, seeing some adults enjoying the book, I decided to make something to make them happy. I must confess that since 2020’s English education was reformed, I have been a little too strict. I need to stop to think whether my lessons have become too teacher-centered. Students are always my teachers. When I carefully see their eyes, they sigh, telling me if there is room for improvement. Trial and error are continuing. It is worth trying.
