みんなは大勢の人の前で
プレゼンテーションをしなければならなかった
今年の先生はイギリス人のレベッカ。
レベッカ先生もみんなも素敵な仕事をしてくれたと思う
小学生は、スピーチも聞く姿勢も本当に素晴らしかった
プレゼンテーションを特別レッスンにする前（8年前）まで、
特別レッスンに外国人を招いて
楽しく過ごすレッスンプランを考えていた私だった。
それはそれで、まぁまぁ楽しかった。。
が、ある年
多かれ少なかれ
人には「承認欲求」があることに気がついた私は、
特別レッスンの内容を
「人に話を聞いてもらうための
「プレゼンテーション」に切り替えた
自分の言葉を皆に届けること
そこに必要なのは自分自身の語学力
つまりそこに向けての努力だ
英語のプレゼンを理解するのには、
心を込めて言葉を伝え、
心を込めて聞くって姿勢も助けになる
そのことへの理解も必要だ
1人の6年生の男の子にとって
5年前の初めてのプレゼンは
苦い思い出になっていた
勇気が無くって・・
部屋に入ってくることすらできずに終わったからだ
そして今日
小学生最後のプレゼンテーションを
堂々とやり抜いてくれた（感動的だった）
自分の力でここまできたね♪って思う
GREWって言葉を日本語に訳すと
二つの言い方になる
①～を育てた（他動詞）
②育った（自動詞）
コーチングに出会う前の私は、
他動詞を使い、
生徒さんの英語力を何とか育てなきゃ！
私が育てなきゃ！って思いが強かった
でも、コーチングに出会ってからは、
彼らの力は彼ら自身の中で「育む」もの
って思えるようになった
そして
私は発育が良くなるように
環境づくりに精を出す
効果を引き出す力を持つモノの1つが笑うこと
今日のプレゼンテーションで、
みんな大いに緊張して
笑ってくれた
みんな英語が好きになってくれたらなって思う
今日のレッスンが
いつまでも良い思い出として残ってくれたらな
みんながこの言語の学習を楽しみながら
深めていってくれますように・・
We had a special lesson where everyone needed to have a presentation in front of many people. This year, Rebecca came as a special teacher. She did a great job. So did every student! Their attitude to listen to others’ speech was also very good. It has been eight years since I started this style of lesson. Before then, I had planned for a lesson with a foreign teacher. It was okay, but it was not ones that kids really enjoyed and focused on what they were doing. One year, I noticed that, more or less, people want to be approved by others, so the lessons I had planned could not really satisfy the kids. By letting them speak in front of everyone, they can be in the center, and to do so they are willing to make efforts. They seem to understand other kids’ efforts and how to understand other languages with their hearts.
One boy in the sixth grade couldn’t speak five years ago at the special lesson at all. In fact, he couldn’t even enter the room, either. But today, he talked with confidence. He grew with his own capacity. The Japanese word sodatu and sodateru which means to grow has a different nuance from the English word when we use it as an intransitive verb and a transitive verb. Before I knew what coaching was, I often used this word as a transitive verb. I thought I had to grow their English ability but after becoming a coach, this word was used as intransitive. I just try to make a good environment for them to let them grow by themselves. To make a good environment, I think one of the most effective tools is laughter.
I hope today’s event will turn into a good, lasting memory and that they keep enjoying learning this language.
