Chance
Choice
Challenge
Change

I got a line message from my ex-student. I met her for the first time when I was working as an instructor of teaching English to kids. She showed me some beautiful pictures of her one-year-old son. He was perfect. I saw her smiling beside the baby too. In the message, she thanked me a lot because I listened to her when she was on the verge of divorcing. She said without me that happiness would have not come to her. I was surprise since I had not done much. Just listened, just sat beside her when she was in tough time. She must thank to her. I was just lucky to see her getting over the problems and changing everything for the better.
As times, we bump into trouble, and unexpectedly have to go through hardship. When I was young, I believed individual had four Cs; chance, choice, challenge, and change, which meant “Choice a chance and challenge it to change the situation or yourself”. Now that I grow old a little, I feel everything happened to me was a gift. While I was chasing those four Cs, I always focused on what I was doing and others were doing, “Doing” and “having” occupied my mind. As I grow old, my appearance loses attractiveness, but I can feel I am a little cleverer than before because “being” came to mean a lot. Maybe when I sat beside her, I believed she was strong enough to make her own luck.
