Mineral wool has long been used to insulate buildings. It provides thermal insulation and reduces heating costs. However, before use, it is important to understand the features of the material and the correct installation technology.

  • High thermal insulation - keeps warm in winter and cool in summer.
  • Fire safety - does not burn and does not support burning.
  • Sound insulation - reduces the level of noise from the street and between rooms.
  • Durability - does not deteriorate under the influence of time with correct installation.

Despite the advantages, the material has disadvantages that are important to consider:

  • Absorbs moisture - needs vapor barrier and moisture protection.
  • May irritate the skin and respiratory tract when working without protection.
  • Loss of thermal insulation properties in case of improper installation or wetting.
Type Features Application
Bazaltova High density, resistant to moisture and fire Walls, ceilings, facades
Fiberglass Light, cheaper than basalt Internal partitions, mansard ceilings
Shlakova An economical option, a rougher structure Lofts, technical premises

The walls must be dry, flat and clean. Any cracks and crevices must be puttyed.

To protect mineral wool from moisture, a vapor barrier film is installed on the side of the room.

Mineral wool is placed tightly between wooden or metal guides. It is not recommended to leave gaps, otherwise there will be heat losses.

After laying the insulation and installing the vapor barrier, you can attach plasterboard or other facing materials.

Mineral wool is suitable for wall insulation, if the installation technology is followed and the material is protected from moisture. It provides heat and sound insulation, durability and fire safety. The main thing is to choose the right type of wool and ensure reliable vapor barrier.
