The rise of popularity in the K-Pop world is growing pretty fast. From the time of their debut to now (2017) some new girl groups have already achieved success in just a few short years. Which among the many girl groups are the best, most beautiful, most successful, and most popular as of early 2017? Let's find it out in this list.

10. Mamamoo

Considered as one of the best K-Pop debuts of 2014 and still proving themselves great in the industry is the girl group, Mamamoo. The group is popular for their retro, jazz, and R&B concepts and strong vocal performances. Mamamoo is composed of four beautiful members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. The members are known for their powerful voices, especially Solar and Wheein who joined the popular music show King of Mask Singer. Before making their debut, Mamamoo had already made collaborations with several artists. They reached immense success after the release of their third mini-album, Pink Funky and lead single "Um Oh Ah Yeh". The song was a big hit in charts and tickets for their fan meeting was sold out in a minute.

9. Lovelyz

The first girl group ever formed under Woollim Entertainment is Lovelyz, with their debut album Girls' Invasion released in 2014. Lovelyz has eight members, namely Baby Soul, Jiae, Jisoo, Mijoo, Kei, JIN, Sujeong and Yein. As their group name suggests, the eight members are known for their sweet and lovely image. Their debut album was a good start, and it was followed by huge success of their track, Ah-Choo. The song maintained its position on most major Korean music charts through 2015 and into 2016, making it Lovelyz's biggest hit. Upon their first fan-meeting in Korea, the tickets were sold out within the first five minutes, showing great anticipation from their fans. They will be releasing their second album "R U READY?" on February 27, 2017.

8. Sistar

Known for their hot, sexy, and charismatic appeal in music and video is the pride of Starship Entertainment, the girl group Sistar. They are formed in 2010 consisting of four members: Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom. Since their debut, Sistar has continued to rock on charts and maintain their popularity through their biggest hits, which includes "So Cool", "Alone", "Touch My Body", "Loving U" and "Give It to Me". Their fourth single, "So Cool," debuted at number one at Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100 singles chart. Their subgroup, Sistar19, which debuted in 2011, features another popular song, "Ma Boy". Up to this day, Sistar continues to impress us with their astonishing fashion style, sexy music and dance, and commercially successful songs.

7. AOA

Also known as Ace of Angels, AOA is a girl group under FNC Entertainment which consists of seven gorgeous and beautiful members: Choa, Jimin, Yuna, Chanmi, Hyejeong, Seolhyun, and Mina. Upon debut, AOA was revealed to be a dance group, with some members also playing instruments. Explaining the concept of their debut, FNC revealed that seven members are "full angels" with Youkyoung as a "half-angel/half-mortal". Their sexy concept of idols turning into a group of heavenly angels was so attractive and captivating. Their first mini album "Short Hair" ranked No. 1 on different charts and also topped the M!Countdown chart in July 2014. It also ranked eighth on Billboard's "Most Viewed K-pop Videos Around the World" for June 2014. This year, AOA released their first Korean studio album titled Angel's Knock.

6. Gfriend

Showing us their powerful vocals and charming faces are the amazingly talented and beautiful members of the girl group, Gfriend, formed under Source Music in 2015. The newly-formed group is hitting the charts with their exceptionally good voices and sweet concept of an ideal girlfriend. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. Their debut was considered as one of the best in 2015, and became successful after they won several 2015 female rookie awards despite coming from a small company. Since then, Gfriend has garnered their momentum and continues to release songs that caters to the sweet taste of K-Pop lovers. Towards the end of 2016, YouTube revealed the top 10 K-pop MVs most beloved by South Koreans, and Gfriend's "Rough" and "Navillera" were ranked 2nd and 10th respectively in that list. "Rough" also became the most downloaded song in 2016 according to Gaon Chart's 2016 Year End Download Chart.

5. Apink

Another successful and popular girl group in the K-Pop world is Apink, formed by Plan A Entertainment. The group consists of Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jeong Eun-ji, Son Na-eun, Kim Nam-joo and Oh Ha-young. Apink's style is simply unique in today's generation. Unlike the sexy, hot, and attractively appealing style, they chose to go with an innocent, girly, and high-school like type. Member Oh Ha-young said, "Other girl groups these days tend to highlight their dancing skills and sexy looks, but our concept was an innocent and pure image. I think that's why the audience felt comfortable with us." Their music generally fits within the bubblegum pop genre, with a signature cheery lyrics and features a quick rhythm and vintage sound to beat the summer heat. Today, Apink is not only popular in Korea, but also establishing name in Japan and other Asian countries.

4. Red Velvet

If you think Red Velvet is just a delicious cake, you'll be surprised that there's a K-Pop girl group that is sweeter than your red velvet dessert. Formed by S.M. Entertainment, Red Velvet is a five-member group which consists of pretty female idols, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. Since their debut, the group has been into notable success and recognition for their wonderful performances. They debuted with their single "Happiness" and gained attention for their lively music and dance. As a new group, Red Velvet has received a total of thirteen music awards, including two awards for choreography; Best Dance – Female and Best Dance Performance – Female Group, as well as three new artist awards. They are also popular for their cameo appearance in the 2016 hit drama, Descendants of the Sun.

3. Girls' Generation

The real queens and divas of K-Pop is our all-time favorite idols and the pioneer of girls' group in this generation is SNSD, also called Girls' Generation. Since their debut in 2007, our SNSD idols have been through a lot, through fame, success, and even trials that resulted them to remain stronger with 8 members: Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun. SNSD's signature musical styles are characterized as electropop and bubblegum pop, though their sounds have varied widely, incorporating various genres including hip hop, R&B, and EDM. The group is also considered as one of the best-selling K-Pop groups of all time. Their immense popularity earned them numerous titles, including "The Nation's Singers" and "The Nation's Girl Group". In August 2016, in celebration of the group's ninth debut anniversary, a single titled "Sailing (0805)" was released. Even without being so active in the past year, SNSD is still loved by millions of fans around the world, covering a wide range of ages from younger teens to elderly adults.

2. Blackpink

The girl group who received the Best New Artist Award at the 2016 Melon Music Awards is YG Entertainment's new band, Black Pink. With their catch Hip-hop, EDM, and R&B style, their music definitely caters to the taste of many K-Pop listeners today. The group has officially debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single album Square One and is the first girl group to debut under YG seven years after 2NE1. The group consists of four members: Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, and YG's first non-Korean artist, Lisa. Black Pink's debut singles hit number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart and they are the fastest act to do so, and the third Korean artist to hold the top two positions after Psy and Big Bang. Their song, "Whistle" topped the digital, download, streaming, and mobile charts on Gaon in August 2016. With their immense success, their fans (called Blinks) are already hyped-up for their next and upcoming performance.

1. Twice

Garnering several music awards since their debut is JYP Entertainment's new girl group, Twice. Formed through the 2015 reality show Sixteen, the group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. They officially debuted on October 20, 2015 and since then, they have been experiencing huge success with the mini-album The Story Begins and title track "Like OOH-AHH". Their music video hit 50 million views within five months of their debut and became the most-viewed debut music video for any K-pop group, and following that popularity is their recorded sales of their album, which was confirmed to have sold 0.49 million, a bombastic thing for a newly-formed group. Twice is one of the most successful and best-selling K-Pop groups ever. Their new lead single, "Knock Knock", was released on February 20, 2017, and the music video hit 17 million on its second day on Youtube. Their official fanbase is called Once.
