Kontra-Musik Records is new label from Malmo, Sweden. The first two releases, produced by Agaric, have been very well received and set a standard for the label. Next in line is another Swedish heavy weight musician, Tobias von Hofsten, now known as ONE.
Tobias von Hofsten, springs from a generation of talented Swedish producers, along side producers like Cari Lekebusch and Adam Beyer, that in the mid nineties defined the typical Swedish/Stockholm techno sound. The music was hard and fast and even though Tobias was involved in the scene he soon took a different musical path. In 1999 he went to Detroit for the first time. The goal was to attend the DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival) and experience the music that he loved on location. He visited the Submerge building and spent valuable time with people like Mad Mike and Ron Murphy. On his return to Stockholm and Sweden, Tobias musical path was clearer than ever. Funk was now more important to Hofsten than beating out hard kicks, and classics like ""I Love My 808"" and ""Swinger"" was the result. Tobias later became One, and set out to be the messenger of machine funk he is today.
The EP Have a Heart is the result of a producer who puts all of his heart into his music. The first track, Deep Thought, produced a couple of years back, is full proof of this. Kick, bass line, piano stab and a drum programming from above, together turns into one of the funkiest pieces of music ever to be pressed onto vinyl. If punk music is reduced, straight forward and efficient rock music, Deep Thought is reduced, straight forward and efficient dance music. The second track on the a-side, Sexmachine, is raw, distorted and compressed, but at the same time a very delicate techno track. If funk is sex, Sexmachine is machine funk. The b-side and the track Kontrafunk is Tobias von Hofstens most recent creation. Still the production is all analog. As a typical Tobias von Hofsten produced track, Kontrafunk only contains what is necessary for maximal effect. A broken beat, a simple but efficient bass line and a reverb drenched dub delay is all that is needed for the truly talented to create music that lasts.
Cerberus belches out of the darkness like a shotgun blast to the face. The slavering three headed watchdog patrols the banks of the River Styx- the river of lost souls as the wretched hoards pass by wrapped in it's currents. Its hot sulphrous breath and steaming piles of iridescent dung fill the air as you pass into Hades, never to return.EDMX (DMX KREW) has been releasing quality electronics on Rephlex and his own Breakin' record labels amongst others since 1995. The Cerberus EP on Power Vacuum presents perhaps his heaviest and darkest moments to date... Side A at 45rpm presents the smash-downbeat of 'Cerberus', incapable of taking prisoners even if there was a glimpse of mercy encoded into this Techno ice-breaker. 'I'm rushing My Tits Off' documents its cascading anvil melody into near-oblivion, while masterfully cruising a two-way wormhole between 1st-wave Electro and modern subsonix. Finally 'Orange Squash' guides us through an irresistibly distorted Acid shuffle and serves to regain some equilibrium after the harrowing opener.DJ support so far: Objekt, Midland, Mark Broom, Pangaea, Perc, Rob Booth, Serge Clone, Kriz (Token Recs), Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Truss, ND Baumecker, Tiga ..

Deep and sweet melodies, pianos, bass, 4x4, disco, house, curated sounds and sampled vocals. That's how TheLook sounds, new disco and house from Barcelona. TheLook started playing in his hardcore band when he was a child, after touring Europe with a his most successful band ""Happy Meals"" he decided to stop this way of life. There were too much rock and stages in his mind, but his passion (music) was there as the first day.
House music attraction, disco love, 80's memories, 90's raves... electornic music had too much to do with him. and now, after recording many tracks in his studio he's about to release his first EP with Neonized Records. Avanti, Pat Lok and Freak You (On the Fruit) are the remixers for Nightwaves and You Can Dance, two mid tempo tracks willing to be played on the best DJ's sets.
Avanti makes his slow-disco-funky version sound as elegant as they use. From Mexico, one of the most interesting band in this new disco scene remixes in a total classy way.
From Canada, Pat Lok gives his house to all of you. Its like were back in the 80s in chicago to get down on the dancefloor and start moving our feet. In a deeper housey way, this house music future star (winner for the DFA - The Rapture - How Deep is Your Love remix contest) makes us a really house gift to enjoy. - mastered by The Groove (Sidechains).
France is one of the most talented countries about electronic music and Freak You is the best example. From La France we got an extremely progressive track wich will never let you coming down. Nightwaves will take you to heaven with tranced melodies and a fat piano smashing your soul while you can?t stop giving it all.
