School in New Zealand(ニュージーランドでの学校)

ニュージーランドで1週間学校に通いました。目的は、ニュージーランド人の発音を理解すること。正直に言いまして、、、えーっと、、、彼らが何を言っているか理解するのにとても難しかったです。

けど、彼らと話し続けていたので、次第に彼らのアクセントに慣れてきました。

その上、共通のアクセントを発見！

* today : [トゥデイ] → [トゥダイ]

* anyway : [エニィウェイ] → [エニィワイ]

ニュージーランド方言を理解するために、私が学んだ法則は、例えば、todayを「トゥデイ」ではなく、エイがアイに変わるので、「トゥダイ」と発音します。

このルールに従ったので、その後は簡単に理解！

1週間しか学校へ行かなかったけれども、とても楽しめた上、貴重な経験をしました。

I went to school in New Zealand for a week. My purpose was to understand New Zealand pronunciation. Honestly speaking, it was too hard to understand what they were saying.

I kept talking with them and so I was able to adapt to the accent gradually.

Moreover, I found the common accent.

* today : [tudei] → [tudai]

* anyway : [anywei] → [anywai]

To understand the New Zealand accent I learnt that a word like today in which we pronounce as tu dei the “ei” pronunciation changes to an “ai” pronunciation making the word sound like tu dai. In following this rule, I was able to understand easily.

Although I attended school for only a week, I enjoyed myself and it was a precious experience.
