その週末に陽光を
土曜日、英会話レッスンの日。
いつものように、午前の遅い時間に家を出た。
空を見上げる。
快晴。
日差しが爽やかだ。
空気もいくぶん涼しい。
例年になく暑かった今年の夏とももうじきお別れのようだ。
スクールの側にあるカフェへ入る。
開始時間までの時間を使って、予習をする。
ネイティブの英文は難しい。
特にイディオムと比喩表現が使われている文章は、その気分を把握するのに戸惑う。
積み重ねられた文化がそこにあるから。
小一時間ほど経っただろうか。
一息ついて、窓の方に目を向ける。
ふと、窓際に座っている一人の女性が目に留まった。
本を読んでいる。
時折本に向かってくるくると表情を変える。
うなずいたり、首を傾げたり。
表現豊かな女性だ。
刹那、女性が本を置いた。
読みかけのページを開いたまま。
少し慌ただしい様子で、しかし期待に満ちた顔で携帯を取り出す。
白い二つ折りの携帯電話。
画面をみる。
満面の笑み。
周囲を気遣いながら、電話に出る。
待ち人からの電話だろうか。笑顔は弾けんばかりになった。
力強く、うなずいた後、両手を合わせるように電話を閉じる。
今度ははばかるように、ふぅっと笑う。
そして、読みかけの本を閉じるのも面倒臭そうに鞄に押し込んで、彼女は店を出た。
爽やかな陽の光は、まだ街を包んでいる。
きっと素敵な週末になるだろう。
飲みかけのコーヒーを一口に飲み干し、再び英文に目をやる。
先ほどより、いくぶん柔らかく見えた。
Saturday, that is a day of my English lesson.
I came out my home in later this morning as usual,
looked up the sky.
It’s clear and fine.
The sunlight and the atmosphere were brisk.
I guess I soon have to say good-bye this unusual hot summer than usual years.
I visited cafeteria nearby the school, to take a preparation for the lesson for few hours.
I sometimes confuse to understand native’s English sentences with an idiom or metaphor because they based on perpetuated cultural background.
An hour later, I gave my eyes to a window on a sidewalk, wanted to have a rest.
I happened to catch a woman sitting by the window.
She was reading a book with an expressive facial signals and gestures,
nodding her head,
leaning her neck to the side,
Adorable woman.
Suddenly, She threw the book to the table that kept open a page she just read.
She abruptly took her cellphone from her bag with an expectant face.
White, in folio cellphone.
She looked at the monitor.
The face turned full smile.
While she paid attention to the others in the café, then she whispered “Say hello.”
Her beloved person might be calling to her.
After strongly nodded, she closed the phone as a devout Catholic.
She smiled again with something hesitation.
Finally, she came out the cafe.
The brisk sunshine has been covering the entire city.
I am sure she will have a happy time with her partner.
After watching her back diminishing into the city, I drank up a rest of the coffee by one shot.
Then, I took a look at the native sentences.
It seemed to me that easier to understand than the previous moment.
